ACT Campground and Learning Center is a green-integrated camp park that models the ways commercial or residential properties can be environmentally friendly. The Center’s 5000 sq. ft. main building was built using recycled or renewable materials whenever possible, including straw bale and SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) construction. To the greatest extent possible, environmentally efficient energy systems are used to provide heating, cooling and lighting. As ongoing development continues, the ACT Campground and Learning Center will also model the use of solar power, waste recycling and water conservation methods. The park is designed to accommodate small-scale group events, with emphasis on the environment.
The all-new facility, located at the south end of Moab with a beautiful view of the nearby La Sal Mountains, includes an office, small store, clubhouse and double community kitchen, and owner’s residence, all designed and built with an eye to sustainable living.
The campground offers a complete range of camping choices, including spacious full hook-up RV sites, tent sites, and cabin-style rooms. Unlike most campgrounds, it also features a common kitchen for use by guests, including a double indoor kitchen with two gas ranges, sinks and eating areas. The outdoor patio features a gas grill and a community firepit, ideal for making those S’Mores and just enjoying a fireside experience. There’s also a modern coin-op laundry, a community fire pit, and accommodations for handicapped campers.
The new campground will be located on Highway 191 at the south end of Moab, a world-class destination along the historic Colorado River with two national parks, a full range of outdoor activities, more than 50 excellent restaurants and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are within easy reach, along with vast expanses of public lands for hiking, mountain biking, and 4WD adventuring. There are also opportunities for river floating, BASE jumping, sky diving, rock climbing, zip lining and almost everything else you can imagine except deep sea diving. As part of its educational programming, A.C.T. Campground and Learning Center will offer local guided excursions for photographers and those interested in geology, biology, and the history of ancient early Americans who once made these canyons and mesas their home.
